The EKG Technician Certification Program
Certified EKG Technicians can often be found at hospitals, clinics or private practices. An EKG Technician’s general responsibilities are to perform electrocardiograms, work with patients who may experience chest pains or other signs of cardiac problems, as well as diagnose and monitor cardiac problems in patients. Companies that provide pre-employment physicals or insurance physicals may also hire EKG Technicians to determine pre-existing cardiac problems. Home caregivers may also find this course useful if there is a need to care for at-home patients with ECG monitors. EKG Technician Programs are not only meant for individuals who would like to obtain a position as an EKG Technician. It’s also extremely beneficial for others such as nurses, EMT’s, paramedics or other healthcare professionals being that it helps to enhance their knowledge in EKG and to perform full 12-lead EKG examinations.
In this course, students will be presented an introduction to cardiac anatomy and terminology, to recognition of cardiac emergencies, and introduction to obtaining a 12-lead ECG in preparation for clinical training and practices.
