What you’ll learn in your PALS course
Both the PALS certification and re-certification courses follow ECC and AHA guidelines; a requirement by most organizations for their pediatric practitioners. You will learn about PALS, CPR, defibrillation, respiratory distress, cardiac arrest, tachycardia and other resuscitation and stabilization procedures for infants and young children.
By the end of the PALS course, you will have the knowledge and skills to better recognize and treat critically ill infants and children. This class uses a scenario-based, team approach to teach emergency management of pediatric patients in danger of or in respiratory or cardiac arrest. Students learn how to provide treatment in or out of the hospital, from the first few emergency minutes through stabilization and transportation of patients.
In the PALS Certification Initial and Renewal Courses, Students Will Learn to:
- Recognize respiratory failure, shock, and cardiac arrest
- Initiate of advanced resuscitation
- Asses and treat airway and ventilation issues
- Acquire vascular access
- Provide fluid and medication therapy
- Identify and treat rhythm disturbances
We recommend all students to receive the course manual prior to taking the course.
